General knowledge of gases

Purpose: The course is to give participants:
• a general knowledge of various gases,
• a more thorough understanding of the gases that are used in laboratories and in production,
• an increased safety and hazard awareness.

Target group: Everyone who works with gases in one way or the other, that is to say; process operators, maintenance personnel, gas managers, production managers and laboratory personnel.

Course content
• Production of gases,
• Storage and handling of gases, liquid gases, dry ice and gas cylinders,
• Inspection,
• Safety – in case of an accident,
• Transportation regulations, an overview,
• Gas cylinders in a fire,
• Common causes of accidents,
• General information about legislation.

Course structure: A teacher is provided. The course is preferably held on the customer’s premises.
Total course time is approximately 4-6 hours depending on the requirements of the customer.
A written test is given at the end of the course. Those who pass are given a diploma.



EU Directives

Purpose: After completing the course, you should be able to interpret directives in concrete terms, and understand:
• when the Directive applies to your business and which specific parts apply,
• what tests are to be performed when a product should be CE marked.

Target group: This course is for those of you who work in the process industry and similar areas, and who need to understand the meaning of the Directives PED (Pressure Equipment), the ATEX (equipment and protective systems that are intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres), and the MD (Machinery Directive).

Course content
Current legislation and interpretation of:
• Pressure Equipment Directive (PED),
• ATEX Directive (equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres),
• Machinery Directive (MD).

Course structure: An instructor is provided. The course is preferably held on the customer’s premises.
Total course time is approximately five hours.
All who complete the course are awarded a diploma.
